What is the HS-5FEP intended to power?
Four 802.3af/at devices — typically IP cameras or Wi-Fi access points — with the fifth port reserved as a 10/100M uplink. The 65 W total budget and 15.4 W (af) or 25.5 W (at) per port cover standard fixed cameras comfortably, making this compact fanless switch the favorite for small shops, homes and single-gate sites.
How should I calculate the PoE budget?
Add up the maximum wattage of all connected devices: the switch supplies up to 25.5 W per port under 802.3at, but no more than 65 W in total across the four PoE ports. Four standard af cameras at about 10 W each leave plenty of headroom; a PTZ camera drawing 25 W or more counts heavily against the budget.
What is included and how is it protected?
The box includes a 52 V 1.25 A power adapter with US plug as standard (EU/GB optional), working at a 48–56 V voltage. PoE uses end-span pins 1/2+ and 3/6− with mid-span optional. Every port has 4 kV lightning protection, the metal housing is wall-mountable and fanless, and the warranty is 1 year.
