What is the HS-5GE designed for?
Desks and wall boxes: five all-gigabit RJ45 ports at wire speed in a palm-size 87.6 × 79.2 mm metal case. The one-key VLAN isolation switch separates guests or camera segments with a flick and guards against loops, while 4 kV per-port surge protection copes with long cable runs in buildings.
Do I need to configure anything?
No — it is a plug-and-play switch with auto-negotiation on every port. The only control is the VLAN isolation switch: off for a normal switch, on to isolate ports from each other, which also breaks accidental loops. With a 10 Gbps backplane, 9216-byte jumbo frames and a 2K MAC table, it needs no tuning for typical office loads.
How is it powered and how quiet is it?
Completely silent — there is no fan, and full-load consumption is only about 2 W. Power comes from the included 5 V 1 A adapter; the wide DC 5–16 V input also accepts other low-voltage sources in cabinets. The metal housing dissipates heat, operates from -10 to +55 °C, and the warranty period is 1 year.
