What is the typical use for the 100M copper SFP?
Fast-ethernet fiber devices often leave spare 100M SFP slots empty. This module turns one into a copper RJ45 port for a printer, IP camera or management laptop — no configuration needed. It is also the economical filler for aging 100M switches that must serve one more copper device before replacement.
Will it work in any SFP slot?
It works in slots whose host port supports 100Base-TX electrical SFPs — the norm on our 100M fiber switches and converters. It is not a gigabit module: for 1000Base-T slots order the HS-SFP-GE-BT instead. Either way the module auto-negotiates with the attached device and reaches 100 m over Cat5e or Cat6 cabling.
How is it installed?
Purely plug and play: insert it hot into the SFP slot, connect a standard RJ45 patch cord and the link comes up — auto-negotiation handles speed and duplex, and the +3.3 V slot supply keeps consumption below 1 W. The shielded RJ45 suits electrically noisy cabinets. Operating range is commercial 0 to +70 °C, with RoHS, FCC and CE certification.
