What Is A DIN Rail Power Supply I?

What is a DIN rail power supply? This central unit for power distribution takes AC line voltage and converts it to DC voltage and is located in an electrical cabinet mounted on a DIN rail. The standard size of the metal strip was originally defined in the German "DeutschesInstitutfürNormung" (DIN) published specifications, and was later adopted as European (EN) and international (IEC) standards.

Since DIN Rail is a globally recognized standard, users can use various components. Relays, contactors, multipliers, circuit breakers, power supplies and other system components can be easily installed on the practical 35mm rail. This means that even complex systems can be implemented quickly and safely.

DIN rail power supplies are commonly used in control panels and electrical cabinets to provide industry standard 12V, 24V or 48VDC. Its applications include motors, valves, solenoids or non-linear loads. The starting current may be very high. Usually, they need to pass UL standard and performance standard certification to meet factory automation and UL60950 universal power standards.

Not surprisingly, the price of DIN rail modules has become so low due to "economies of scale" and fierce competition, so they are increasingly attractive for smart home applications, security technology and building automation.
