HS 5GT is an unmanagable gigabit industrial Ethernet network switch with 5 1000M 10/100/1000Base-T auto-adaptive Ethernet RJ45 ports. It’s the gigabit version if 5TX. It has a wide DC power input design (12 – 48VDC) to allow for all types of applications such as on-vehicle or panel designs. There are 2 individual LED indicators for rach port to indicate the link status and transmission speed. This ruggedized unmanaged industrial Ethernet model also supports Auto MDI/MDI-X function.
HS 5GT is with 8 RJ-45 ports for your industrial applications. It designs to work in the industrial environment. 5GT is developed to be with the function to protect itself from receiving too many broadcast packets. All the packets received will be forwarded to all the ports. All HS industrial Ethernet switch series provides dual redundant power inputs which can be connected simultaneously to wide-range DC power sources. If one of the power inputs fails, the other live source acts as a backup to provide the power needs automatically.
How to Choose the Right Industrial Ethernet Switches? Part 1
1. If It Matches the Industrial Specifications Needs
Before choosing the industrial Ethernet switch, you need to know all basic parameters to see if they will match the equipment already in your network facility. Please read and compare specifications for temperature, moisture, humidity, shock resistance, vibration and noise immunity. Many of the industrial applications require a long life for the automation machinery and they may tend to expect the same with the industrial Ethernet switches. So the warranty period and MTBF would also be important factors to be considered. The real environment status of the application field would also affect the choice greatly. Some switches might only be suitable to be used inside a control cabinet instaed of direct explosion in real outdoor environments. Before selecing, you have to consider all related aspects.
2. Connection Ports & Traffic.
Please check and count how many network devices you are going to connect with the industrial Ethernet switch to ensure there will be enough ports for all devices. There is also need to consider about the transmission rate of the switch. If it requires a fiber optic switch, then you need to know the fiber port rate is fixed. It has to be matching with your current fiber switch. However, for the Ethernet ports, they are all designed to be auto-adaptive. So the Ethernet ports rated for higher speeds can also communicate at slower speeds if needed.
